== Oregon toll bridges ==
<p style="font-size: 16px; color: #202122; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 1.6; margin: 8px 0;">No - but you'll save 50-58% per crossing with BreezeBy. Oregon has only two toll bridges, both crossing the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. Hood River Bridge moved to automatic license-plate billing at the toll booth on April 1, 2025 - but this did not eliminate cash entirely: the Port of Hood River confirms cash or check can still be paid at the Port office during business hours, or via a 24/7 dropbox outside the office. The Bridge of the Gods still accepts cash directly at the toll booth.</p>
Following are the toll bridges in Oregon:

The '''Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge'''<ref>[https://portofhoodriver.com/bridge/ The Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge]</ref> spans Columbia River connecting Hood River, Oregon with the communities of White Salmon and Bingen in Washington State. The Bridge is limited to a Total Gross Weight Limit of 80,000 lbs., with each single axle limit of 20,000 lbs. Vehicles higher than 14 feet 7 inches are restricted to travel on the bridge. Cars, SUV, pickups, and RV without trailers pay $2.00 toll. Motorcycles pay $0.75.
<p style="font-size: 16px; color: #202122; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 1.6; margin: 8px 0;"><strong style="font-weight: bold;">Key Reality:</strong> Without BreezeBy you pay $3.50 at Hood River (billed via license plate, payable by mail, online, or in person at the Port office/dropbox) and $3.00 at Bridge of the Gods (cash accepted directly at the booth), versus $1.75 and $1.25 respectively with BreezeBy.</p>

The '''Bridge of the Gods'''<ref>[http://portofcascadelocks.org/bridge-of-the-gods/ The Bridge of the Gods]</ref> spans the Columbia River connecting SR-14 in Washington to I-84 in Oregon. Two-axle vehicles pay $2.00 toll unless you buy a coupon book.
<p style="font-size: 16px; color: #202122; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 1.6; margin: 8px 0;"><strong style="font-weight: bold;">2026 Update:</strong> Oregon's I-205 and I-5 urban tolling projects remain indefinitely postponed following Governor Kotek's March 2024 decision. The 2025 legislative session did not revive them. Oregon's toll footprint remains limited to the two Columbia River bridges. A $200 million federal grant has been awarded for eventual replacement of the Hood River Bridge. BreezeBy has issued an active scam warning: it will never request payment via text message - any such text is fraudulent.</p>

'''Oregon toll calculator''' calculates tolls and gas expenses for cars, trucks, trailers, buses, RVs, and motorcycles for all toll bridges in Oregon.

Oregon Toll Roads, Bridges and BreezeBy Complete Guide

System: BreezeBy electronic tolling + cash/check (accepted at both bridges, though Hood River no longer collects cash at the toll booth itself - see note below)
Coverage: 2 Columbia River bridges only - Hood River-White Salmon and Bridge of the Gods
Currency: US Dollar (USD)
Technology: BreezeBy transponders, license plate recognition (Hood River), cash booth (Bridge of the Gods)
Operators: Port of Hood River; Port of Cascade Locks

Do I Need BreezeBy for Oregon? 2026 Update

No - but you'll save 50-58% per crossing with BreezeBy. The Bridge of the Gods still accepts cash directly at the toll booth.

Key Reality: Without BreezeBy you pay $3.50 at Hood River (billed via license plate, payable by mail, online, or in person at the Port office/dropbox) and $3.00 at Bridge of the Gods (cash accepted directly at the booth), versus $1.75 and $1.25 respectively with BreezeBy.

2026 Update: Oregon's I-205 and I-5 urban tolling projects remain indefinitely postponed following Governor Kotek's March 2024 decision. The 2025 legislative session did not revive them. Oregon's toll footprint remains limited to the two Columbia River bridges. A $200 million federal grant has been awarded for eventual replacement of the Hood River Bridge. BreezeBy has issued an active scam warning: it will never request payment via text message - any such text is fraudulent.

Oregon Toll Costs: Current Rates (2026)

Bridge BreezeBy Rate Cash / Plate Rate Savings
Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge $1.75 $3.50 (license plate billing at the booth; cash/check still accepted at the Port office or 24/7 dropbox) 50%
Bridge of the Gods (Cascade Locks) $1.25 $3.00 (cash accepted directly at the booth) 58%

Commercial Vehicle Rates (2026)

Vehicle Type Hood River BreezeBy Hood River Cash/Plate Bridge of the Gods BreezeBy Bridge of the Gods Cash
2-axle (car, pickup) $1.75 $3.50 $1.25 $3.00
3+ axle trucks/RVs (per axle) $3.00/axle $4.00/axle $2.00/axle $3.00/axle
Box trucks/large RVs $10.50 $14.00 $5.25 $7.00

To calculate toll costs for all vehicle types on Oregon bridges, use the TollGuru Oregon toll calculator:

How to Pay Oregon Tolls

1. BreezeBy Electronic System (Recommended):

  • Works on both Oregon toll bridges; 50-58% savings versus cash/plate rates
  • First transponder free; additional transponders $5.00 each (standard decal type); not transferable between vehicles
  • Account setup online or at Port offices; automatic account replenishment available; balance falls below $10.00 triggers a yellow warning light at the toll plaza
  • E-ZPass, Washington's Good To Go!, and other out-of-state transponders are not accepted
  • Scam alert: BreezeBy will never request payment via text message

2. Cash Payment:

  • Bridge of the Gods: staffed toll booth accepts cash directly ($3.00 for 2-axle vehicles); credit cards also accepted (additional fees may apply)
  • Hood River Bridge: the toll booth itself no longer takes cash - it's automatic license-plate billing on the road. However, cash or check can still be paid at the Port of Hood River office during business hours, or via the 24/7 dropbox outside the office. This is a meaningful difference from being fully cashless.

3. License Plate Tolling (Hood River):

  • Automatic plate recognition system at the Hood River Bridge toll booth since April 1, 2025
  • Payment must be received by the day of crossing or within 14 days afterward to avoid an unpaid toll invoice, per the Port
  • Pay online, by mail, or in person (cash/check) at the Port of Hood River office or dropbox

Recent Changes (2026)

  • Hood River Bridge - automatic plate billing at the toll booth (April 1, 2025): The on-road cash lane was removed and replaced with license-plate billing, but this is not the same as eliminating cash entirely - the Port of Hood River confirms cash/check remains payable at the Port office or a 24/7 dropbox
  • $200 million federal grant awarded for eventual Hood River Bridge replacement - design and environmental review in progress
  • I-205 and I-5 tolling projects: Indefinitely postponed by Governor Kotek, March 2024; 2025 legislature did not revive them; $400 million Abernethy Bridge funding gap unresolved
  • Bridge of the Gods: No rate changes in 2026; tribal member toll-free program continues for the Hood River Bridge (tribal members, tribal government employees, and CRITFC employees can apply for a Tribal Member BreezeBy Account)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use E-ZPass in Oregon?

No. Oregon uses its own BreezeBy system at both bridges. E-ZPass and other out-of-state transponders are not accepted. Washington state's Good To Go! tag is also not accepted at these bridges.

Is the Hood River Bridge really cashless now?

Not entirely. The toll booth itself no longer accepts cash - it bills by license plate automatically. But you can still pay in cash or by check at the Port of Hood River office during business hours, or drop payment in the 24/7 dropbox outside the office. "Cashless at the booth" and "no cash option at all" are different things here.

What happened to the I-205 toll project?

Governor Kotek indefinitely postponed I-205 and I-5 tolling in March 2024 citing cost concerns and lack of public support. The 2025 legislative session did not restore funding. There is no active timeline for Portland-area highway tolling as of 2026.

Do motorcycles pay tolls in Oregon?

Yes. Motorcycles are billed under Class 0 and pay the standard passenger rate ($1.50 BreezeBy / $3.00 plate at Hood River; $1.00 BreezeBy / $2.00 cash at Bridge of the Gods).

Can I avoid Oregon tolls completely?

Yes - both bridges are the only toll facilities in the state, and both serve the Columbia River corridor specifically. All Oregon interstates (I-5, I-84, I-205, US-97) are completely toll-free. Avoid the Hood River and Cascade Locks crossings to pay nothing.

Oregon vs. Neighbouring States (2026)

State System Tag Notes
Oregon 2 toll bridges only BreezeBy Most limited toll system in US
Washington 5 facilities (bridges, tunnels, express lanes) Good To Go! Dynamic pricing on express lanes; SR 520 bridge toll
Idaho No toll roads N/A Toll-free state
Nevada No toll roads N/A Toll-free state
